Hi! Thanks for listening. My name is Elle. When I introduce myself I say, "Hi, my name is Elle, like the magazine." I hope that magazine never goes out of print.
I'm a Certified Health Coach with the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute and lover of fruits and vegetables. I aim to blog about my path to joyful wellness. What is joyful wellness? Well... To be well is to thrive, to feel alive, inspired and energized. When I am well I feel joyful. It's a positive feedback loop, like holding a microphone to a loudspeaker; joy begets wellness begets joy. I strive to live a joyful life and for me that includes paying special attention to my health: physically, emotionally and spiritually, which I still struggle with. (Let's be honest, I still struggle with them all.) Helping others inspires me. It gives me purpose. I hope to encourage and motivate people to be well and find their true joy. Which, in turn, will give me mine.
I use this platform to share my journey, my struggles and my curiosity. I will offer recipes, tips and tricks for eating healthily. I'd love to answer questions regularly and nurture an online community of support and understanding.
In real life, I teach workshops and classes geared towards families with young children and pregnant and breastfeeding mamas. I help clients navigate the meal planning labyrinth, one on one, shining a light into a person's wellness journey. Every other month I lead a 10-day clean eating program. (Let me know if you'd like to join in!) Past workshops have included: School Lunch Redux, The Pantry Makeover, Healthy Hydration for your family, The Whole-Food Smoothie, Basic Nutrition for families, and others.
In the past I've worked as a labor doula and newborn care teacher at Zenana Spa in SE Portland.
My Favorite Quote:
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake, Life is no "brief candle" to me. It is sort of a splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it off to future generations." -George Bernard Shaw
